Clinical Prophylaxis Expert Working Group

History
The Clinical Prophylaxis group aims to explore opportunities and initiatives in prophylaxis, using the current landscape of treatment options, including EHL, high-sustained factor replacements, bypass therapies, factor mimetics, and other non-factor therapies.
In 2014, the IPSG Clinical Prophylaxis Expert Working Group was formed by combining 2 previously separate groups, the Prophylaxis in Inhibitor Working Group and the Adolescent/Adult Expert Working Group, both of which originated in 2008. This coincided with the launch of a joint initiative focused on the use of long-term prophylaxis in hemophilia patients in whom prophylaxis has traditionally been underutilized. Most recently, the group has published an international survey on prophylaxis in inhibitor positive children and adults with severe hemophilia (Carcao et al., 2017 ; Carcao et al. , 2017 ).
